Alexandra Elim Church 156 Tarbert Streeet, Alexandra, Central Otago Sunday Service: 10am
As a church group, we believe strongly in Missions giving: current projects -
Max and Dorothy Chismon Alexandra Elim Church has supported the Chismons of 'Living Springs International / World Outreach' based in the Philippines. Their focus is world evangelism to Least Reached Peoples through training of local peoples using the Kairos course they have developed.
Personal Mission trips A member travelled to India in October 2014 under the auspices of John Bridge’s group, Faith Outreach. John Bridge has been a speaker about his work in India in both Alexandra and Wanaka. Another man travelled to Vanuatu in July 2014. His heart is for evangelism and healing. Nearly everyone who was prayed for was healed almost instantly. Many of our church group have taken part in mission trips to the Philippines and to Africa. The young lady who went to Africa proposed the purchase of the vehicle (see First Missions page) as one of our very early mission causes. She also travelled and served as a teacher in the Pacific Islands, and followed that with a trip to Myanmar. One of our youth went to Mexico to assist with the building of houses in a small community. A number from our youth group of a few years ago were taken on a trip to the Philippines and with their leaders did most of the fund-raising by chopping firewood. One man does an annual trip to an area in the Phillippines and has assisted the local group to buy land and build a church centre. They do house to house calls asking if anyone needs prayer for healing or salvation. Other church members have accompanied him on these trips over the years. Another young woman worked with the Watoto Child Care Ministries in Uganda for 5 - 6 months from July 2014, and with another group in Africa in 2016.
Typical homes in Vanuatu
Vanuatu - through Tear Fund
Following the hurricane that hit Vanuatu in March 2015, we decided to support the island of Tanna as our missions project. This island is the home of Pastor Joe, who came with a group of men for about 6 months from Vanuatu each year, to work in the orchards and vineyards of Central Otago. Groups are going to assist with the re- building taking place in Tanna.
Chismons - ongoing
